Germany ban overturned - comment by Dan @ Skirmish Paintball Crawley, Surrey & Kent
Two weeks ago many newspapers carried stories of Paintballing to be banned in Germany following a shooting spree by a teenager. At the time the German Government sought to ban Paintballing as it was beleived that this, along with other issues, had contributed to his state of mental health. What has been unreported though, is that no link between the teenager and Paintballing could be found and Germany has no plans to ban paintball.
Dan Chase at Skirmish Paintball Games Crawley Kent & Surrey commented "I feilded a number of calls following the main story and was shocked to here of the shooting and the subsequent ban with regular customers voicing concern that Paintball in the UK would alsobe effected. A quick check with theHome Officeconfirmed that Paintballing had been reviewed as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Bill brought into power in October 2007 and had been given a clean bill of health whilst more paramiltary concerns such as Airsofting and Blank Firing Weopons had been banned. I then learnt that, despite initial reports, the teenager in question had never even playedPaintball and that there was to be no ban in Germany - it would be nice if the newspapers printed these details so as to dispell any negative critisism of Paintballing in the UK".
